On the Rise: Kazakhstan's Construction Sector Reaches New Heights

Kazakhstan's construction industry is booming, solidifying its role as one of the key drivers of the national economy. According to BaigeNews.kz, in the first quarter of 2025, the volume of construction work reached a record high of 1,014.8 billion tenge — a 16.9% increase compared to the same period last year.

The main contributors to this growth were projects focused on the construction and renovation of non-residential buildings, road infrastructure, and commercial real estate. Notably, 90% of the work was carried out by private companies, highlighting their leading role in the industry.

However, the construction boom is uneven across regions. The Mangystau region saw volumes increase more than 2.4 times, with notable growth also recorded in Astana, Akmola, and Kostanay regions. Meanwhile, the Abai and Ulytau regions experienced a decline — by 8.1% and 25.3% respectively.

Growth in Housing Construction

In the first three months of 2025, 3,729.1 thousand square meters of housing were commissioned — 7.4% more than the previous year. Private developers remain the primary contributors. Almaty, Shymkent, Mangystau, and Atyrau regions lead in housing delivery, while Karaganda region recorded a significant drop of 69.8%.

Social Infrastructure in Focus

Construction is not limited to housing and commercial projects. In the first quarter, the following facilities were commissioned:

  • 36 schools,
  • 7 kindergartens,
  • 6 outpatient and polyclinic facilities.
